April in London is a strange month. It’s not the warmest by a long stretch the high is only 55°F and it doesn’t rain anywhere as much as many other months, but it’s still a wet 43mm in the month.
And that in a way is exactly what the problem is with April. It’s very unpredictable. You can get glorious days, cold days and days where it just doesn’t stop raining. You really don’t know what to expect and that can make it very difficult to plan days out and things to do.
Unlike February weather which can boast to be the second driest month, April hasn’t really got anything to shout about.
Yes the days are definitely much brighter and longer and for things to do in London there are more activities than the previous months.
The flowers are also starting to come into bloom that bit more which is nice to see, but generally speaking, it’s probably best described as the most unpredictable month of the year. If you’re here then just beware of that and pack the right things to wear for London.
I suppose if I had to suggest anything I’d say take advantage of any sunny days by going to one of the parks or zoo (we sometimes have a 2 for 1 deal for London Zoo in our Pack).
And definitely go to see the Queen’s Birthday Gun Salute in Hyde Park, which is on the 21st , if the 21st is a Sunday the Salute takes place on the Monday.
